Session Judge Karachi restrains toys’ importer from defaming ‘Maersk Shipping Line’ and other

Toys importers through its news organization ‘Custom Today’ was blackmailing shipping lines, port users and operators to save their demurrage charges of the Port Qasim, Customs Department and Maersk Shipping Line

KARACHI: District & Session Court South Karachi Saturday directed a toys’ importer, who was continuously defaming a multinational company Maersk Line of A.P Moller in Pakistan, not to defame it and restrained him from circulating untrue statements against the Shipping Lines in written or spoken directly or indirectly till the next date of hearing.

Issuing the stay-order on a petition against the importer, Ramesh Kumar, XIIIth Additional Session Judge Karachi South, said, “the defendants are restrained from making any publication or circulating any untrue statement causing any damage to the plaintiff.”

The court also directed to repeat the summon notices to the defendants for the next date of hearing and till that time, the defendants will not issue any statement against the Maersk Line.

The importers through its news organization ‘Custom Today’ was blackmailing shipping lines, port users and operators to save their demurrage charges of the Port Qasim, Customs Department and Maersk Shipping Line.

Through his attorney, Maersk Pakistan has challenged all the allegations of toys’ importer in the Additional Session Jude South Karachi.

The court has issued the notices to the defendants to appear before the court, but he or his attorney did not appear before the court today.

The court further orders, “the notices be repeated to the defendants in meantime the defendants are restrained from making publication or circulating of any untrue statement causing defamation of plaintiff in written or spoken directly or indirectly till the next date of hearing.”
