India launches Agni-IV nuclear strategic ballistic missile

Earlier this month, Agni-V was successfully test fired from APJ Abdul Kalam Island which was the first time that the indigenously developed missile was test fired in a lofted trajectory from the Isle.

NEW DEHLI: Nuclear strategic ballistic missile Agni-IV was test fired off Odisha Coast. The launch took place from launchpad no. 4 of Integrated test range at APJ Abdul Kalam Island, Indian newspapers claimed.

Earlier this month, Agni-V was successfully test fired from APJ Abdul Kalam Island which was the first time that the indigenously developed missile was test fired in a lofted trajectory from the Island.

Come 2019 and India would inscribe its name in golden letters on the global nuclear map as one of the few countries having a robust Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) capability. This would take it a step closer to become the military superpower in the South East Asia region.

Currently, India is the world’s largest importer of weapons and military equipment, accounting for 13 per cent of all such international imports, according to Sweden-based think tank Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
