Europe lifts ban on Pakistani airlines

KARACHI: In a significant development for Pakistan’s aviation industry, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has officially lifted the ban on Pakistani airlines here on Friday.

According to the PIA spokesperson, EASA has formally informed the Ministry of Aviation and the PIA management of their decision through an official communique.

EASA has also congratulated the PIA team and management for complying to their stringent most safety standards.

The spokesperson stated that PIA will continue to strictly adhere to the EASA’s regulations and guidelines. This milestone has been achieved after four years of relentless efforts by the PIA management.

On this historic occasion, PIA CEO Air Vice Marshal Aamir Hayat extended his congratulations to the officials of the Ministry of Aviation, the Civil Aviation Authority, PIA team in particular, and the entire aviation industry of the country for their unwavering support and commitment.

With the lifting of this ban, the nation can once again travel directly to European destinations using their national flag carrier. This development is a testament to PIA’s compliance with international aviation safety standards, Spokesperson concluded.
