PPP and PML-N governments issue all fake licenses of pilots
2 min readISLAMABAD: All the fake licenses of pilots were issued during previous governments of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) during 2008 to 2018, the Inquiry revealed.
According to Inquiry Report, all these suspected licenses were issued from 2008-2018, during the tenures of the previous governments.
Secretary Maritime Affairs, Convener of the Board of Inquiry (BoI) had submitted report the federal cabinet. He highlighted the short comings in the Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) Licensing Branch, Computer Network Team and over all license Management System. He discussed at length the security breaches, flaws and loopholes in the CBT system during investigation.
He also pointed out the short comings in the data received from different airlines, especially the Pilot Rosters of Pakistan International Airline (PIA). He informed that millions of data lines were scrutinized and the anomalies were identified using over 100 logic filters to initially run on the raw data, and subsequently on the refined data, for which about 100k tires of unique code had to be written, tried and tested.
The role of delinquent officials in taking the exams, was also highlighted. As per the data provided to the Board of Inquiry, a total of 262 suspected cases were identified through forensic audit. The Inquiry Board had divided its recommendations into 03 areas:
The role of delinquent officials of the CAA, who connived with the while suggesting the way forward, the Chairman of the BOI stated Legal Measures, Administrative Measures and Technological Measures, the details had been communicated to the Aviation Ministry.
Inquiry Team will now looked into duplicate (triplicate in some cases) IDs of Pilots in PIA database, Missing/deleted data from 2012-2012 in PIA database and repeated revision of data provided by PIA.
