KARACHI: On the call of All Pakistan Restaurant Association (APRA), successful protests and boycotts are going on in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad and other cities of Punjab against the monopoly and malpractices of Foodpanda.

APRA has made it clear that the boycott will continue until it stops threatening to increase huge commission, impose unconditional conditions and repeatedly shut down delivery services.

In a statement, APRA Chairman Muhammad Naeem Siddiqui reiterated his demand to the Chairperson of the Competition Commission(CCP), Rahat Kaunain, to take stern action against the Foodpanda for violating the competition rules and end its monopoly and ensure equal business opportunities. So that new investments can be made in the food delivery sector and consumers can have the facility to order food from the delivery company of their choice.

APRA chairman informed to CCP Chairperson that restaurant owners across Karachi and Punjab were preferring to deliver food through their riders instead of taking foodpanda delivery services as a protest. This is because the company stipulates that no restaurant other than Food Panda will deliver food through its riders or hire any other delivery company.

APRA will not recognize this monopoly as it is against the rules of the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP).
