CTD ‘clueless’ about nature of explosives used in Karachi blast
1 min readKARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has said that it couldn’t determine nature of the blast in city’s Quaiabad area that killed at least two people, ARY News reported on Saturday.
CTD in-charge Raja Umar Khattab, speaking to media on late Friday night, said it was premature to determine the exact spot of the bomb and the amount of explosives used in the explosion.
He said another suspicious box was found from the blast bite and bomb disposal squad was called for inspection. It turned out to be another bomb device, which was defused by the BDS, he informed.
According to senior cop, who is a part of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Mazhar Mashwani, the BDS team successfully defused an IED which could have triggered a serious tragedy.
The bomb disposal squad carried the explosive device to a nearby ground and defused it. Personnel of police and Rangers had surrounded the spot during the BDS operation.
At least two people were killed while several others injured when an explosion went off under Quaidabad flyover in Malir on Friday.
According to the police, the blast took place in a heap of used clothes placed underneath the bridge that injured around a dozen people.
