Dr Waqar Masood appointed member Monetary and Fiscal Policies Board
1 min readThe federal government has appointed Dr Waqar Masood former Secretary Finance as member Monetary and Fiscal Policies Coordination Board with immediate effect in place Dr Farrukh Iqbal.
The Finance Division had proposed that the cabinet may approve one of the following as member on the monetary and fiscal policies coordination board in place of Dr Farrukh Iqbal director IBA due to his preoccupation with his other regular assignments.
The Finance Division had proposed three names which included Dr Waqar Masood former Secretary Finance, Dr Naveed Hamid professor of Economics at Lahore School of Economics and Dr S. Akbar Zaidi executive director IBA.
Dr Farrukh Iqbal director IBA was appointed a member on October 12, 2018.
The cabinet approved the appointment of Dr Waqar Masood former Secretary Finance as member of the Monetary and Fiscal Policies Coordination Board.
The board is mandated to coordinate fiscal, monetary and exchange rate policies, ensure consistency among macro-economic growth, inflation and fiscal, monetary and external accounts. It is also given task to determine the extent of government borrowing from commercial banks taking into account credit requirements of the private sector, liquidity expansion.
It also reviews the consistency of macro-economic policies and targets set at the time of the formulation of the budget keeping in view the latest developments in the economy.
