LAHORE: A debate has broken out between national institutions on whether the moon of Eid-ul-Fitr will appear on May 23 or May 24. Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has claimed that the Shawwal moon will appear on May 23, while the Meteorological Department says that this ramazan will complete 30 days, a private TV channel said.

According to details, the Eid moon has once again become a cause of controversy. The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee have come face to face on this important issue. The Meteorological Department has also made its forecast in this regard.

According to the Meteorological Department, the month of Ramazan could last for 30 days. The moon of Shawwal is likely to appear on May 24 instead of May 23. Thus, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across the country on May 25.

On the other hand, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has claimed that the Shawwal moon will appear on May 23. He alleged that the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee wants to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday.
