FPCCI celebrates women entrepreneurship with the ‘Way Forward Initiative’
2 min readKARACHI: The Standing Committee of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Women Entrepreneurs organizes a seminar to initiate a new programme called Women Entrepreneurship the Way Forward. It is a sustainable programme which enables women entrepreneurs with skills and knowledge of business, finance and, banking. This programme will allow them to learn and grow personally and economically.
“FPCCI’s Standing Committee for Women Entrepreneurs initiative, Women Entrepreneurship the Way Forward is about empowering our rural and urban women with skillsets and knowledge of business and finance. This will help them to become an income generating members of their families with knowledge of finance,” said Shaiyanne Malik Convener of the Standing Committee and also the President of Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) South.
According to the World Bank’s economic report 2017, Pakistan has the world’s lowest rate of women’s entrepreneurship with one percent of female entrepreneurs compared to 21 percent of male and therefore, calling creation, access to jobs and economic opportunities for women as the three critical challenges for the country.
“In Pakistan, there are many reasons that women are the most neglected segment of the workforce; they are lagging not just in education, but also technical, and professionalism compares to men of our society. The Women Entrepreneurship the Way Forward is more focused towards specific programmes for women entrepreneurship development,” said Ms. Hina Mansab Khan, the Founding President of Attock Chamber, Karachi Chamber East and Rawalpindi Chamber and Chief Executive Karachi Chamber South.
Women entrepreneurship development is vital for any developing economy. The neglect of women population is a waste of human resource. Pakistan should move firmly and unitedly towards including women in the workforce. FPCCI’s Standing Committee for Women Entrepreneurs will carry this initiative across Pakistan and reach out to women from all provinces and empower them to become business owners with necessary finance and banking knowledge to progress personally and economically.
