French Ambassador to India denies Pakistani pilots training on Rafale

1 min read

French Ambassador to India has denied reports that Pakistani pilots were being trained to fly Rafale fighter jets under an exchange programme with Qatar.

“I can confirm that it is fake news,” tweeted French Ambassador to India Alexan Ziegler.

Rezaul Hasan Laskar, a senior Indian journalist, had tweeted a news story, claiming that “the first lot of pilots trained for Qatar in France are Pakistani exchange officers.”

Qatar had placed two separate orders for 36 Rafale jets. The first of the aircraft was delivered in February. The Indian government has also signed a deal with the French plane maker to buy a fighter aircraft.

The delivery of Rafale for India was expected to start by September, Hindustan Times reported.
