Ikhtiar Baig appointed chairman Am-Pak BDF Pakistan Chapter
2 min readKARACHI: The founding President of America-Pakistan Business Development Forum (Am-Pak BDF) has appointed Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig as the chairman Pakistan Chapter of the organization.
The Secretary Corporate Affairs Syed Turab Shah and Secretary Syed Nasir Wajahat have confirmed this development.
The Am-Pak BDF made a statement that hopefully Baig will play a role in fostering friendly relations between the two countries besides, while promoting the trade. Baig is the chairman of the Multi National Baig Group and also serves as the Senior Vice President for Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
He has also served in the advisor to prime minister on textile and has been working in the different sectors in the country and abroad, including United Arab Emirates and Morocco, for past 35 years. He did his masters in marketing and doctorate in business administration from United States. He was also a member of economic think tank Businessperson Council.
He is also authored of seven books on national and international economic policies and wrote over 800 columns for newspapers and gave over 700 interviews to TV. He is also the recipient of country’s highest civilian award Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. He serves as the honorary consul general of Yemen in Pakistan and also as a member of the World Federation of Consul. He was also the Yemen’s highest civilian award for his services.
He has bagged many national, foreign and international awards for his roles and services in the banking and finance sectors. His company Pak Denim is one of the leading denim exporters from Pakistan and due to this he has also received the FPCCI Special Export Merit Award from prime minister and president.
Baig is chairman of the FPCCI committee on banking, credit, and finance for last 12 years. He is also the chairman of PAK-UAE Business Council, chairman of Pakistan Textile City and members of Federal Board of Revenue’s ADR committee and Pakistan State Oil’s board of directors.
