Is Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu dead?
Is the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu killed in an Iranian missile and drone attack? Many rumours are circulating on social media claiming that Netanyahu and his family were killed in an attack. Who will confirm it.
There have been no confirmed reports about Netanyahu for the past four days. The Israeli Prime Minister’s public absence, cancelled video messages, and the unexplained cancellation of a visit by a top-level US envoy have intensified speculation, while Israeli officials have maintained complete silence.
A report from Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency has ignited speculation about the fate of Benjamin Netanyahu, claiming he may have been killed or seriously wounded in recent retaliatory strikes.
Since the Iranian military suggested that Benjamin Netanyahu “may have been killed or wounded” in a claimed strike, Tehran’s media outlets have been promoting theories about the whereabouts of the Israeli leader.
Several foreign media outlets, citing Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, have highlighted Netanyahu’s recent public disappearance, tighter security around his residence, and the sudden postponement of diplomatic trips, further fueling global speculation about the Israeli leader’s safety.
As Iran has been launching a barrage of missiles and drones at Israel, claims about the assassination of Benjamin Netanyahu have gone viral on social media. Recently, another set of viral posts claimed that Netanyahu’s brother, Iddo Netanyahu, was killed in an Iranian airstrike in Tel Aviv. Some posts also claimed that Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was injured in the same attack.
Again, today, Tehran’s Tasnim News Agency has sent shockwaves through global media with unverified claims that Benjamin Netanyahu was killed or seriously wounded in recent retaliatory strikes.
Social media accounts cited by Iranian media claim that all statements attributed to Netanyahu since his disappearance have been issued only in written form, without any accompanying video or photographic confirmation.
The area around the Prime Minister’s residence has reportedly been placed under extraordinary security measures, although no official explanation has been provided.
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency says:
The report from Tasnim News Agency further alleges that far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Netanyahu’s brother Iddo Netanyahu may also have been killed, though these claims remain entirely unconfirmed.
The report also claimed that US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner abruptly cancelled a planned visit to Israel scheduled for Tuesday. The trip was intended for high-level talks on the ongoing war with Iran, which has reportedly killed more than 1,200 people, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Israeli media reported the cancellation without explanation, and neither US nor Israeli officials have commented on the reason.
Some social media posts suggest possible disagreements between Washington and Tel Aviv over the scope of military operations against Iranian oil installations. Most striking is the complete absence of any denial from Israeli authorities or Netanyahu’s office regarding the Iranian claims.
The official silence, combined with the cancelled US visit and heightened security measures, has allowed speculation to spread widely across international media.
The conflict, which reportedly began on February 28 with joint US-Israeli strikes, has now expanded to include engagements with Hezbollah along Israel’s northern border and tensions involving the Houthis in Yemen. Total casualties are said to have exceeded 2,000, with hundreds of thousands of people displaced.
It has been nearly three days since the last video of Benjamin Netanyahu was posted on his personal channel, and almost four days since the last images of him were published. Since then, the few statements attributed to him have been issued only in text form.
Before the last video, at least one video—and sometimes up to three—was typically released daily. However, the absence of even a single video over the past three days has intensified speculation.
Several Hebrew-language sources also reported that on March 8 the security perimeter around Netanyahu’s residence was significantly increased, particularly to counter potential suicide drone attacks.
Is Netanyahu alive?
A media report said, Benjamin Netanyahu is alive. Shortly after strikes on Tehran reportedly killed Ali Khamenei, several social media posts began circulating claims—citing flight radar data—that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had secretly left Israel for Germany.
However, these claims were quickly contradicted by public appearances. Netanyahu was seen in Tel Aviv in the following days, visiting locations damaged during attacks and attending official events. His most recent appearance was on Tuesday, March 9, at Ashdod Port—Israel’s largest port—where he was seen alongside Israel’s Transport Minister Miri Regev.
