Mobile phones to remain suspended on Chehlum
1 min readKARACHI: Following the threats of terrorism in Karachi, all cellular phone services to remain suspended and pillion ridding would be banned on Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA).
According to Sindh Home Department, cellular services will remain suspended on the route of Chehlum procession in provincial capital on October 30, 2018.
Yesterday, the Police had forwarded recommendations seeking suspension of cellular phone services and ban over pillion ridding in Karachi as part of security measures for the occasion.
The Sindh government is considering to call the army and other law enforcement agencies in the province for special security.
Earlier on Monday, the Pakistan Rangers Sindh reviewed security plan for the Majalis, religious congregations and mourning processions to be taken out on Chehlum.
The meeting chaired by Director General Rangers Major General Muhammad Saeed decided to ensure strict security of sensitive areas besides mourning processions. It was also decided that strict implementation of the code of conduct issued by the Sindh Government will also be ensured.
The meeting was attended by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Commissioner Karachi, Additional IG Karachi, senior officers from Rangers and other law enforcement agencies.
They also reviewed strategy adopted for the maintenance of law and order and elimination of street crimes from the metropolis. The general public was advised to cooperate with LEAs and inform about any untoward, suspicious or terrorist activity on Rangers Helpline 1101.
