US Consul General Karachi, JoAnne Wagner opens trading day at PSX
1 min readKARACHI: The United States Consul General, JoAnne Wagner, opened the trading day through the Gong Ceremony at the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
Sulaiman Mehdi, Chairman PSX, welcomed Consul General Wagner and her team from the US Consulate General Karachi. Mr. Mehdi apprised the Consul General about the steps taken by PSX for the development of Pakistan’s Capital Market. He also highlighted the fact that foreign institutional portfolio investors hold substantial holdings of free float shares of listed companies on PSX.
The US delegation lauded the efforts of Pakistan’s Stock Exchange in providing a conducive and safe environment for investments not only for Pakistanis and non-resident Pakistanis, but also for foreign investors. Pakistan and the United States enjoy a long-standing historical and multi-faceted relationship in areas such as energy, trade, FMCGs, construction, chemicals, transportation, communications, and counter-terrorism.
Sulaiman Mehdi and the PSX team thanked the US Consul General and her team for their visit. He stated that further economic cooperation between the US and Pakistan will lead to better prospects for the development and progress of Pakistan’s economy.
