It was PPP’s mistake as not change NAB law: Bilawal
1 min readISLAMABAD: It was the biggest mistake of the government of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) as it could not amend the National Accountability Ordinance 1999 promulgated by a military dictator during its tenure, said PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday.
Addressing the workers who surrounded his vehicle as he left the NAB office in Islamabad after recording his statement in the Park Lane Estate case, he said the PPP made a mistake of not changing the accountability law during its term in power.
“We will right the wrong come our government,” he pledged, adding the case instituted against him dated back to the time when he was barely one year old. Bhutto-Zardari alleged that the bureau was formed to steal mandate of the PPP.
Taking a swipe at the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), he claimed some ministers part of the government worked with banned organisations and demanded that they be removed from their offices.
The PPP chairperson vowed to continue raising his voice against social injustice, human rights violation and banned outfits. “We don’t fear their [NAB] notices,” he said.
He expressed his gratitude to the party workers for turning up outside the NAB office to express solidarity with the party leadership.
Amid tight security, former president Asif Ali Zardari and the PPP chairman appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Islamabad and recorded their statements in the Park Lane Estate case.
