Pakistan is on top-ranked in affordable telecom services

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has been top-ranked for the provision of most affordable telecom services among 139 countries in World Economic Forum’s Network Readiness Index report.

Meanwhile, Competitiveness Index Report of World Economic Forum has also ranked Pakistan above India, Bangladesh and Iran in terms of availability of latest technologies and internet bandwidth.

It is pertinent to mention here that World Economic Forum is regarded as one of the most reputed, credible and authentic source of information globally.

Pakistan’s average price per one Gigabyte internet data is the second lowest in the Asia Pacific region ahead of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Iran, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Earlier, Pakistan’s exports of telecommunication, computer and information services had  increased to $539.71 million, registering 3.78 per cent growth in first half of current fiscal year.

The earning made through these exports was $520.043 million during same period last year, reported the APP on March 6.

Data issued by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) showed that in telecommunication sector, call center services exports increased by 9.28 per cent.
