PIA wastes food worth Rs106m during 2013-15
1 min readKARACHI: National flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) wasted food worth over Rs 100 million in three years (2013-15), the audit report of the airline said.
The airline, which was already running in loss, also paid overflying bill of $65,000 for Turkamanistan to a fabricator falsely. The money was transferred to the account of man who fabricated a story nicely, Dunya TV reported.
On the other hand the kitchen audit of the national flag carrier has further revealed that Rs 106.5 million worth food was wasted in three years (2013-15).
The report said 5,558,284 passengers travelled from airline from 2013 to 2015 and food was arranged for 6,072,839 passengers. An additional food for over 5 lac persons cost PIA over 70 million. Food wasted at Lahore Airport also worth over 40 million.
The report held PIA administration responsible for this loss. PIA was informed about these mishaps in 2016 and in November 2018 but no one paid heed to these losses of worth millions.
