The best street style from Tokyo Fashion Week

1 min read

Browse the best sartorial moments from Tokyo Fashion Week, as seen through the lens of Vogue’s street-style photographer Emily Malan

The Japanese capital’s biannual celebration of homegrown talent, officially known as Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo, is now in full swing. Split between show venues at Shibuya Hikarie and Omotesando Hills, the spring/summer 2019 season will include presentations from 51 regional and international brands. Among them is manga-inspired Memuse, maximalist Viviano Sue and streetwear-inflected Head Yellow Label.

Takeshi Kitazawa’s cult label DressedUndressed also enters its tenth anniversary year, while relative newcomers Christian Dada and Bed J.W. Ford will present their collections as part of Amazon Fashion’s “At Tokyo” programme for local designers.

Better yet, Tokyo is the original home of avant-garde street style. The directional dressers who sit front row continue to determine the staying power of emerging trends. Your latest dose of sartorial inspiration comes courtesy of Vogue’s roving photographer Emily Malan, who hits the pavements to find the best looks to rival those on the catwalk.
