Three Suspects Detained in Shooting at Actor Tiger Shroff’s Car
MUMBAI: Three suspects in the shooting incident targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai have been detained in Kota, Rajasthan, according to Indian media reports.
The suspects were picked up from the Railway Colony area of Kota on Monday. However, reports differ on whether they have been formally arrested or detained, while police have yet to publicly confirm their identities or establish their alleged roles in the shooting.
According to local media, two suspects, identified as Phool Singh and Rehan, belong to Sonipat, Haryana, while the third, Hrithik Kumar, alias Roshan, is from Begusarai, Bihar. Police reportedly said the three men were travelling by train to Surat when they were apprehended.
Investigators believe the attackers had monitored Shroff’s routine before carrying out the shooting. Reports suggest they knew the actor played football in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sundays and waited for around 45 minutes outside the ground.
The assailants allegedly opened fire as Shroff walked towards his car. They reportedly fled on a Pulsar motorcycle along SV Road and abandoned it outside Andheri West railway station before boarding a train towards Borivali, according to ANI.
Shroff survived the attack and did not sustain any gunshot wounds, according to police. The incident occurred on Sunday evening as the 36-year-old actor was leaving a football club in Juhu.
Videos circulated by several news outlets reportedly show at least two gunmen firing multiple shots at close range towards the front passenger seat of a slowly moving car.
Two people, including Shroff’s driver, were reportedly injured in the shooting.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the actor following the incident and said Shroff and his mother had been left shaken by the attack. He vowed that attempts to intimidate people would not be tolerated.
The shooting has renewed concerns over the security of prominent public figures in India. In 2024, police arrested two alleged members of a criminal gang over a shooting attack targeting Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence. The same year, influential politician Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai.
Tiger Shroff made his acting debut in 2014 with the romantic action film Heropanti and has since appeared in several Bollywood productions. He is also known for his interest in football.
Investigations into the shooting are ongoing.
