Ceasefire violations on LoC, Pakistan summons Indian Deputy HC

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office on Saturday registered their protest against the continuous ceasefire violations on Line of Control on Eastern border of Pakistan after summoning Indian Deputy High Commissioner (HC) J.P. Singh at his office.

The Indian troops once again violated the ceasefire agreement yesterday night, resulting the death of a Munazza Bibi, 22 year old girl.

The Pakistani government urged the Indian Deputy HC to respect ceasefire arrangement 2003 and investigate it with other incidents of ceasefire violations. The Pakistani office also instructs the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.

“The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws. The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation,” said Director General (SA & SAARC) Dr Mohammad Faisal in a statement here today.

He urged that the Indian side should permit UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.

Because of the firing from the Indian forces along with the LoC , several civilian populated on LoC areas martyred and got injuries.

In 2018, the Indian forces have carried out more than 2312 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, resulting in the shahadats of 35 innocent civilians, while injuring 135 others.

This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India continued from the year 2017 when the Indian forces had committed 1970 ceasefire violations.
