PIA to Operate Daily Flights to London from October 27
KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced an increase in its flight frequencies to London, with the national flag carrier set to operate daily flights between Pakistan and the British capital from October 27.
A PIA spokesperson said on Wednesday that the airline would operate five weekly flights between Islamabad and London, while two weekly flights would operate between Lahore and London.
The expanded schedule will bring PIA’s total weekly flights to London to seven, compared with the current four weekly flights.
The expansion comes after PIA’s management control was transferred to a private-sector investor consortium led by Arif Habib Corporation as part of the airline’s privatisation process. Management control was formally transferred in June 2026.
According to the spokesperson, the decision to increase flight frequencies reflects growing passenger demand and satisfaction with the airline’s services.
The increase also demonstrates passengers’ confidence in PIA, particularly in terms of flight comfort and convenience, the spokesperson added.
The daily service is expected to provide greater travel flexibility for passengers travelling between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, particularly members of the Pakistani diaspora, business travellers and other passengers requiring regular connections between the two countries.
PIA said the expansion of its London operations was aimed at meeting the growing demand for direct air travel and improving convenience for passengers.
The increased frequency from Islamabad and Lahore will provide travellers with more options throughout the week and strengthen PIA’s connectivity with one of its key international destinations.
PIA’s new private management has also announced ambitious plans for fleet expansion. Reports have indicated that the airline’s owners intend to substantially increase the number of operational aircraft over the coming years as part of a broader strategy to expand routes and strengthen the carrier’s operations.
The increase in London flights marks an important expansion of PIA’s international operations and could signal the beginning of a broader growth strategy under its new private management.
PIA is adding four narrow-body Airbus A320 jets on a six-year dry lease. The first plane arrived in mid-July, the second in August, and the final two are scheduled for September and October.
