KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Thursday said that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six has been postponed indefinitely due to rising cases of the COVID-19 among participants.

According to the statement, the decision was made after an emergency meeting between the PSL’s organizing committee and franchises.

All the stakeholders felt that it was unsafe to carry out the PSL 6 as human safety and health is more important than anything else.

“The PCB, as an immediate step, will focus on the safe and secure passage of all participants, and arrange repeat PCR tests, vaccines and isolation facilities to the six participating sides,” PCB said in a statement.

Meanwhile, PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan, Director – Commercial and Babar Hamid, will hold a media conference at the National Stadium at 3pm to provide further updates.

Remember, six players and one support staff official were tested positive for COVID-19.  The match between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators was moved a day ahead after Islamabad United’s Fawad Ahmed tested positive on the match day.

PCB conducted tests of all franchises a day later where three came out COVID-19 positive. Earlier today, PCB also confirmed three more cases from two different franchises.
