KARACHI: Sazgar Engineering Works Ltd  (SAZEW) has posted a net profit of Rs4.04 billion for the first quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with Rs4.42 billion in the same period last year, according to its unaudited financial results.

The company has announced an interim cash dividend of Rs5 per share or 50 percent by the end of first quarter of current fiscal year. The company is manufacturing three-wheel and four-wheels in Pakistan.

Net profit declined by approximately 8.6 per cent year-on-year, while earnings per share (EPS) fell to Rs66.77 from Rs73.07 in the same period of the previous year.

The company’s net sales increased significantly to Rs41.71 billion during the quarter, up from Rs33.82 billion a year earlier, reflecting an increase of around 23.3 per cent.

However, the growth in sales did not translate into higher gross profit. Gross profit stood at Rs8.51 billion, compared with Rs8.52 billion in the corresponding quarter last year, as the cost of sales rose to Rs33.20 billion from Rs25.30 billion.

Operating profit declined to Rs6.15 billion from Rs6.81 billion a year earlier. Distribution and marketing costs increased to Rs1.66 billion, while administrative expenses stood at Rs218.29 million. Other operating expenses amounted to Rs486.78 million.

Profit before taxation fell to Rs6.44 billion from Rs7.24 billion in the corresponding period last year. Taxation amounted to Rs2.41 billion, compared with Rs2.83 billion a year earlier.

Despite higher revenue and lower finance costs, the company’s overall profitability remained under pressure due to rising costs and lower operating profit.
