More than 4,000 illegal properties of Pakistanis found in Dubai Asad Umer
1 min readKARACHI: Federal Minister for Finance, Asad Umar, Saturday said that more than 4,000 illegal properties of Pakistanis have been found in Dubai.
Talking to the member of Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industries in Karachi, the minister said the government is focusing to increase volume of industrial production. He said the government knew the problems of industrialists and working to resolve them. The minister was of the view that all necessary steps were taken to revive the national economy.
During an investigation, he said, “we have found 4,000 illegal properties of Pakistanis in Dubai.”
He said the government was taking measures to bring back Pakistan’s looted money which the politicians and bureaucrats owned abroad. He underlined that the payment transfer method called ‘Hundi and Hawala’ was primarily used for terror financing as well as other illegal activities. The government in September established a task force to bring back money illegally shifted abroad from Pakistan.
Asad Umar termed ‘political maneuvering’ as the core reason behind poor tax net.
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had said a unit had been established at the PM House for coordination in measures for bringing back looted money from abroad.
The unit comprises officials from National Accountability Bureau and Federal Investigation Agency, he added. He also informed that Rs 80 billion had been saved days after abolishment of the discretionary fund.
