Israel attacks Iran
Israel has launched what it described as a “pre-emptive attack” against Iran, dramatically escalating tensions between the two regional rivals.
In a statement issued early this morning, Israeli Defence Minister Yisrael Katz announced that Israel had carried out strikes on Iranian targets and declared a “special and permanent state of emergency” across the country. Israeli airspace has been closed amid fears of possible retaliation.
According to Iranian media reports, at least three explosions were heard in downtown Tehran, including in central districts of the capital. The semi-official Fars News Agency reported that several missiles struck the Republic area of the city. The extent of the damage and any potential casualties has not yet been confirmed by Iranian authorities.
Israeli officials said the operation was launched in response to what they described as imminent threats from Iran. “Israel acted to neutralize immediate dangers to its national security,” Katz said in his statement, without providing further operational details.
Iranian officials have condemned the strikes, describing them as an act of aggression. Security forces in Tehran were reportedly deployed to key locations following the explosions, and air defenses were said to be on high alert.
The escalation marks one of the most direct confrontations between Israel and Iran in recent years. Both nations have been engaged in a long-running shadow conflict involving cyberattacks, proxy forces, and alleged covert operations across the Middle East.
International leaders have called for restraint, warning that further escalation could destabilize the broader region. The situation remains fluid, with concerns growing over the possibility of retaliatory strikes and wider military confrontation.
Israel targets President House in Tehran
Israel said it launched a pre-emptive attack against Iran on Saturday, pushing the Middle East into a renewed military confrontation and further dimming hopes for a diplomatic solution to Tehran’s long-running nuclear dispute with the West.
However, the international Media said, the Israel targets president house in Tehran. But it is not confirmed that Masoud Pezeshkian was present. Iran has claimed that thousands of guard were reportedly killed, Iran media said.
The New York Times, citing a U.S. official, reported that U.S. strikes on Iran were underway. A source told Reuters that Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was not in Tehran and had been transferred to a secure location.
