Explosion at Old Police Lines in Kohat Kills Seven, Injures 20
KOHAT: An explosion was heard at the old Police Lines area in Kohat, killing seven people and injuring 20 others, according to police officials.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) office is also located within the old Police Lines premises. Rescue 1122 said 14 ambulances and more than 40 personnel were taking part in the rescue operation at the site.
Roads leading to the old Police Lines have been closed as a precautionary measure.
Rescue teams reached the site and launched relief and rescue operations, according to Rescue officials. The injured are being shifted to nearby hospitals by ambulance for medical treatment.
Police said 20 injured people have so far been shifted to nearby hospitals.
Rescue officials earlier said seven ambulances and more than 35 personnel were participating in the emergency response. The nature and cause of the explosion have not yet been determined, while further details are awaited.
