Karachi may also host three scheduled matches of Lahore: CM

1 min read

KARACHI: The Pakistan leg of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be held entirely in Karachi, the chief minister of Sindh said on Sunday.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, when asked by a reporter about the possibility of Karachi hosting all the PSL matches of the Pakistan leg of the tournament, confirmed that the metropolis will host the three matches originally scheduled in Lahore, in addition to the five scheduled matches at the National Stadium.

The Pakistan Cricket Board is yet to make a formal renouncement on the matter.

But reliable sources informed Geo.tv earlier today that the board has decided to shift the three PSL games originally scheduled in Lahore to Karachi.

“All eight PSL matches are likely to be held in Karachi now. PCB will make a final announcement soon,” said the source.

Karachi’s National Stadium was originally scheduled to host five matches of the fourth edition of PSL, including the final on March 17. However, some uncontrollable developments due to closure of Lahore’s airspace have forced the PCB to make this decision.

PCB had last week announced to go ahead with the initial plan to have all eight matches in Pakistan, after the tensions at the border between neighbours Pakistan and India.
