Pakistan Navy hosts Water Sports Gala

KARACHI – The Pakistan Navy, being a major stakeholder in shaping maritime thought, is proactively playing its role in creating the requisite Maritime Awareness for exploitation of the untapped potential of our Blue Economy.

The initiative was highlighted during the successful conduct of the PN Water Sports Gala and the National Beach Volleyball Championship 2026 at the scenic Manora Beach, Karachi.

The championship, organized by the Pakistan Navy in collaboration with the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF), was held from October 28 to November 1 at Manora Beach. Rear Admiral Muhammad Umair, Commandant of the Pakistan Naval Academy, attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest.

Exciting Water Sports and Beach Activities for Karachi Citizens

The PN Water Sports Gala provided an exciting platform for water-based activities that attracted people from Karachi city and beyond. The purpose of the event is to spread Maritime Awareness and to provide a rare opportunity for water sports activities along with funfair activities at economical rates.

Visitors enjoyed a wide range of activities, including:

Water Sports: Sailing, speed boat, jet skiing, and banana/donut rides

Beach Activities: Horse and camel rides, ATV rides, foosball, beach football, and beach volleyball

Entertainment: Musical evenings and aromatic food stalls that served diversity in refreshments

The entire exuberance took place in the milieu of the historical Manora Light House, which stood behind as a witness to the festivities, adding a heritage touch to the modern celebrations.

National Beach Volleyball Championship 2026 Showcases Athletic Spirit

Adding a competitive dimension to the festivities, the National Beach Volleyball Championship was also held at Manora Beach. A total of 27 teams, which included 14 Men and 13 Women, participated in the championship, representing departments and regions from across the country.

During the event, the teams showcased their athleticism, teamwork, sportsmanship and determination. Leading departmental teams including Navy Blues, Navy White, WAPDA, Police, and POF competed for early victories.

The championship aims to promote sports, encourage youth participation, raise maritime awareness and highlight the potential of beach sports in Pakistan. The final matches concluded on November 1, with Pakistan Navy teams securing top positions after five days of intense competition.

The initiative reflects Pakistan Navy’s sustained efforts to provide young people with ample opportunities to excel at national and international level events while promoting healthy lifestyles, physical fitness and positive engagement through sports.

The successful conduct of the National Beach Volleyball Championship and Water Sports Gala underscores Pakistan Navy’s commitment to promote maritime awareness, sportsmanship and community engagement, bringing the people of Karachi closer to the sea and reinforcing the importance of the maritime sector of Pakistan.

Officials said such events not only promote water sports but also educate the public about the importance of the sea as an economic resource, in line with Pakistan’s vision for a sustainable Blue Economy.
