LAHORE: Punjab political crisis worsen as Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) came in front of each other. PML-N started consultation over governor rule in Punjab while PTI has called mop at 5 pm in front of the governor house.
According to sources in Punjab, a team of PML-N legal experts are consulting aspects of imposing governor rule while PTI’s government has started planning to counter federal government’s decision in the province.
If the governor’s orders to de-notify the chief minister are not abided then the governor’s rule will be imposed easily, said Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah.
The legal team also told senior party leaders that if any hurdles are created in the election of a new chief minister after the de-notification, then the federal government can impose governor rule.
The governor can also ask for the federal government’s help if his orders are not abided by, the PML-N legal team said in a briefing to party leadership.
Earlier, a number of containers were placed outside the Chief Minister House in Punjab with no law enforcement agency or authority taking responsibility for their placement in the highly secure official residence.
It is pertinent to note here that Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah threatened to seal the Punjab CM House if the session of the provincial assembly will not take place today (Wednesday).
PTI the majority party in the house, Imran Khan announced on last Saturday, (December 17) that his party has decided to dissolve the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) assemblies on December 23.
Imran Khan to announce next action plan tomorrow:
Chairman PTI Imran Khan will announce his next plan of action in an “important” address tomorrow (Thursday), a senior party leader Hammad Azhar said.
In a press conference in Lahore, PTI Focal Person for Economy Hammad Azhar said that the party would hold a “huge” protest outside Punjab Governor’s House at 5pm to record its protest.
The political situation in Punjab is tense as Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman — belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) — had summoned a session today for a vote of confidence pertaining to Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi.
But defying the directives, Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Sibtain Khan — a PTI member — termed the order against the constitution and adjourned an ongoing session till Friday.
PML-Q members shows full confidence in CM Pervaiz Elahi
According to the sources in Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) parliamentary party, all the members of PML-Q expressed full their full confidence in Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi and gave him the full authority to make decisions.
Pervaiz Elahi and Sajid Bhatti co-chaired the PML-Q’s parliamentary party session today reviewed the current political situation.
Pervaiz Elahi said that PML-Q is united and always will be united. He slammed the political opponents for spreading rumours to accomplish their agenda. He added that they are firmly standing with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan.
